Acer Aspire: With a New Design Focus, the Acer Aspire is Aiming Higher

Designed under commission by BMW Designworks, Acer’s Aspire model blends a renewed focus on design with Acer’s established excellence in performance to provide an attractive and effective laptop for the business and home user. Hitting a delightful sweet spot between price, design and functionality, the Acer Aspire is not the world’s most graphics-intensive laptop option, but the Aspire is not alone here and its in-built features such as Dolby Home Theatre technology are an unexpected treat.

Acer Aspire Review

Performance was never going to be a major concern for users looking at the Acer range. As always, the Acer Aspire model meets all the expectations of an Acer laptop computer – the latest model giving you control over 2.1GHz of power, 4 GB of RAM and a 250 GB hard drive. Without soaring ahead of the competition, these specs make it competitive with the best in its price range, and mean that bigger instructions will executed faster than in its predecessors.

Powered by the Intel Core 2 Duo Processor, rated at 5 stars by Intel Consumer Ratings, this laptop-focused processor works double time to allow movement between multiple applications with minimal drag, whilst being equipped with energy-saving technology and size efficiency. If you are combining work with play, multimedia with movement, or just big functions with a small laptop computer, this chip is your design. In the Acer Extensa, the in-built Dolby Home Theatre technology will love working from the Duo Processor and deliver movies and games in impressive surround sound.

The big improvements in the Acer Extensa come in its design – pearlescent exterior, smooth functional keys and an in-built webcam to catch your reaction to these renovations. Though not ideal for the shoulder bag, weighing in at a shade over 3 kg, Acer have trimmed down the screen size to 15.6” in the latest model, introduced a new lightweight and more robust chassis and included welcome functional additions such as a DVD writer, 5-in-1 card reader, three USB ports, and Wi-Fi. Windows Vista Home Premium comes preloaded.

All this suggests that the Acer Extensa will attract the professional who is looking for a mobile replacement to the desktop computer at home or in the office – and who will be pleased to catch the lingering eyes this new design will attract.

Acer Aspire Battery

The Acer Extensa works from either a 6 or 8-cell Lithium-ion battery. Depending on how conscious you are of the weight, the 8-cell version is heavier but will give you a longer unplugged lifespan, but in both cases the Lithium-ion batteries are mobility and endurance-conscious.

Acer Aspire Price

Pricing is a draw-point for the Aspire – somewhere between $450 and $750 depending on the model.

I tried other netbooks and they all got so overheated they were uncomfortable to use. This one is perfect for me. Small enough for travel, doesn’t get hot and the keyboard is almost full size. I use it for a spare and so I don’t have to carry my normal heavier laptop with me on trips and it’s perfect for that.
