The Lenovo ThinkPad T-Series Has Come Down a Size, but is Still the Same at Heart
Dipping into the ‘smaller = better’ market, the Lenovo ThinkPad T-Series has shed the excess baggage of its predecessors but manages to retain the structural quality and longevity you’ve come to expect from the ThinkPad models. Without setting the world on fire with new performance levels, the ThinkPad T-Series will thoroughly impress with its ability to blend an extremely portable frame with high-quality multimedia options and the ever-impressive usability of the ThinkPad model.
Lenovo ThinkPad T-Series Review
If you were worried about Lenovo sacrificing quality for a designer physique, fear not. As ever, the ThinkPad T-series laptop maintains the high standards set by the ancestors of the ThinkPad range, adding an in-built roll cage into the package to protect your high-definition LCD 14” minimum widescreen and a lightweight chassis that not only looks better but improves the T-Series solid core.
Despite these additions, the T-Series model is still the thinnest and lightest ThinkPad laptop yet, starting at 1.8 kg and only 21mm thick. And to ensure that all this good work doesn’t go to waste, the power brick design is super-light, so carrying the entire computer package about for a whole day won’t leave you bailed up at the physio.
In terms of performance, the T-Series model supports up to a 160GB hard disk, 2 GB of RAM and 256MB video memory; competitive and efficient without taking any great strides forward.
This is fuelled easily by an Intel Core 2 Duo Processor running at a maximum 2.9GHz, with boot speed and program access supercharged by Intel Turbo Memory technology (which also saves energy). The Core 2 Duo Processor is Intel’s 5-star consumer rated engine designed specifically with laptops in mind: lighter, more energy efficient and built for the user on the move. The dual core allows you to run multiple programs of varying sizes without bogging down – so taking notes in a lecture or meeting whilst watching a movie and accessing social networks won’t be a problem.
Lenovo have also added some user-friendly features to the ThinkPad T-Series to match its user-friendly size. One particular draw card is its connectivity options, with a choice of mobile broadband, WiMax capabilities or Ultra-Wideband Bluetooth which frees up your USB ports. Graphics have also been addressed in the T-Series computer, with the energy-efficient LED backlit widescreen supporting above-average 1,440×900 pixel definition and competitive gaming capabilities. And, of course, try finding a better keyboard.
Although the performance of the ThinkPad T-Series laptop stood its ground in most tests, it is the size of the T-Series model and the mobility-safe structure of its frame and features that will attract most users.
